More about this scene
This Victorian crescent lines one end of Exmouth's long Esplanade. It was built in 1870 for the benefit of the hotel trade in Victoria's reign, and several hotels survive to this day, though some of the buildings are now blocks of flats. Before the buildings runs what is now the very busy road along the sea front. The ornate lamppost is no more, alas.
