More about this scene
Hall Walk on the Bodinnick side provides a fine view down the harbour to the open sea, with the town on the right. The deepwater estuary of the Fowey has long been an important haven, but especially since china clay exports were begun in the 19th century. A large sailing ship, and several smaller ones are waiting opposite the town for their turn to go up river and load clay.
