More about this scene
The land here on the corner of Paul's Lane and Sandy Lane was purchased for nine pounds in 1870. Founder members of Hambleton Congregational Church began building at once, carting the materials themselves. Amongst them were Edward Brewer, John Hodson, Thomas Eaves and the Thompson family. The church opened on 20 April 1870, and within 15 years a Sunday School was built. Ministers were supplied at first from the Fylde Itineracy. By 1970, when the church held its centenary, the Rev H C Oak Griffiths was the minister. The Manse (right) is now a private residence.
