Hove, Church Road 1898

More about this scene
Always jealous of its independence, Hove evaded big brother Brighton's dominance and obtained borough status in 1898. Waterhouse, the architect of The Metropole Hotel, designed a splendid red brick and terracotta Town Hall in 1882. Tragically, it burnt down in 1966, and a modern structure took its place. The gasholder and the commercial buildings still remain.
