Little Walsingham, The Priory Gatehouse c.1965

More about this scene
Walsingham Priory was visited by more pilgrims in the Middle Ages than any other site in England, apart from Canterbury. They came to see the Holy House, a miraculous re-creation of the house in Nazareth where Jesus was brought up, together with other wonders. Every medieval king of England came here, and would have entered the priory grounds through this gateway.
