Lytham, East Beach 1907

More about this scene
There are swings on Lytham Beach and a few children paddling – no longer to be seen in the 21st century, as the sand is now overgrown with invasive Spartina grass. In the distance are Lytham windmill and the spire of St John's Church. Near the windmill is the lifeboat house, in use at this time. In 1886 the tragic wreck of the 'Mexico' occurred with much loss of life, including lifeboatmen from St Anne's.
