In this photo of the island, the half timbered house on the left was owned by Mrs Rees and she sold ice creams and sweets from her back door. Opposite is another shop that you stepped down into run by my (Great? ) Aunt Ginnie. I am Rodney Warner and lived in Ombersley from 1948 till we moved in 1957. My name is Wayne Lavigne and while I am a Canadian I do have an attachment to Omberseley. My mother is Patricia Pheysey, one of four daughters of Donald Pheysey and Helen Maude Pheysey. My grandfather's family originated in Stourpourt but after World War 1 he married my grandmother in Birminhgam. They moved to Ombersley not too long after my mother was born, which was 1921.
