More about this scene
On the left is the now sadly demolished Parade, a splendid Gothic construction which, with its intricately patterned brickwork, housed a number of prominent businesses and shops. Just beyond the banner advertising the attractions of the new Shopping Centre was the local branch of J Sainsbury's, with its tiled walls and marble counters, suffused with the subtle and distinctive aromas of cheese and cooked meats.
