The picturesque coastal town of Eyemouth is situated five miles north of the border where the Eye Water flows into the North Sea. Eyemouth's fine natural harbour has been the base for fishermen since medieval times. It was once the haunt of smugglers, who imported illicit spirits from the Continent. With its sheltered sandy beaches, it has become popular with holiday makers.

I am Jim Windram and I'm a Gelsgie Terrace Sparray frae Haymoothe. One could only be a sparrow from the terrace if you were born there, as I was in 1946. Chapel Terrace as it was officially known, was once owned by Peter Gibb, a fish curer for Glasgow. Glesgie Terrace was off Chapel Street, where Salt Greens nursing home is now, and I reached it by going up the side of Giacopazzis. Brick built, it was 3 stories ...see more
