Grays, The Lightship c.1955

More about this scene
Grays is a much re-developed town, but it has a fine Norman church. South of the town, a long-redundant lightship lies on the slipway near Argent Street; its light was hauled up to the masthead on cables. It is remarkable that it still survives, albeit moved a hundred yards west to the other side of the Thurrock Yacht Club, where it continues to moulder gently on the beach.
