Denny Stone Menswear Shop

A Memory of Haslemere.

This was ‘Denny Stone’ menswear store - Mr Stone lived in Petworth Rd. He had a son - Roger - who had a souped-up Austin A35 which was allegedly capable of 100mph, which he demonstrated while giving me a lift to Milford to my girlfriend’s house. My knees were knocking when I got out......

I remember my A35 well, the fastest one around. Who were you I gave a lift to? You were brave.
Yes, my dear old Dad, who lived in Chase Lane, not Petworth Road where his brother David lived and ran the Old Barn China shop.
I worked for David at the China shop in the early sixties. The brothers were friends of my dad. Got the sack!
