St Peter's is a building of some antiquity, and this view of the rear of the parish church does not do justice to its clarity of line
or the aesthetic appeal of its architecture.

The parish church of St Peter, which dates from before 1222, was built on the site of part of the old St John's Chapel at the side of the Roman Akeman Street.
