More about this scene
The manor is mentioned in the Domesday book, the detailed survey of property which was conceived by William the Conqueror at Christmas 1085 in Gloucester. We know from this record that a mill stood on the site now occupied by Arlington Mill Museum with its milling machinery and country bygones, although the present building is substantially 17th-century.
