More about this scene
The businesses shown in this photograph, Beynon Ltd, Edwards and Godding and WJ Daniel, have all closed, though the Town Hall and its famous clock tower remain. One of Newbury's most striking landmarks, the tower was completed in the 1880s. On the corner is a sign prohibiting the use of traction engines.
