More about this scene
T A Wilkinson the chemist is next door to the shop selling Wall's ice cream with rustic furniture outside. The village gets its name from a Viking, Sigward. There is a record of a chapel here in about 1050, situated where Cove Lane meets Emesgate Lane. The church of St John replaced it; the old gravestones were transferred to the new site, and they yield interesting information.
