More about this scene
Three Bridges derives its name from its bridges over the River Mole. Before the arrival of the railway in 1841 it was a small settlement, but it grew around a station and busy junction on the London to Brighton line. By 1841 the Fox Railway Inn (on the right) had been opened by the railway company. It was demolished in 1989.
