Night Plane Crash Ww2
A Memory of Aldbury.
As a young child during ww2 , my mother and me , living during the day in a caravan on the farm adjacent to the Bridgewater monument ,walked down the Back Hollow in the evenings , to sleep above the bakers in the village . One night there was a very loud sound of airplane engines , a flash of light and a tremendous crash very nearly above our heads . None of this was ever explained to me at the time and it was only years afterwards that i realised we must have been dangerously near to being killed. Can anyone give me details of this crash? I must have been about 4 or 5 at the time , which puts the date around early 1940s .I have an idea the plane was American .
Any information would be much appreciated . Brian Wright
