More about this scene

Caption for Alford, the Church c1950: Alford is a most attractive small market town on the eastern edge of The Wolds, noted for its thatched Manor House in West Street, a 16th-century hall house with crosswings, all encased in brick in 1661. Its market was first chartered in 1283; in this view the Market Place is beyond the medieval parish church, here partly screened by the 1906 Church Hall.
