Caption for Alford, West Street c1950: The tower of St Wilfrid's Church had to be the perch of the photographer for him to take this shot. The road has not changed, and the route into the Market Place is still the same; however, as in most of these photographs, the telegraph poles have long since gone. The spire of the former Methodist church can be seen in the distance - the building is now a furniture store. The new church is located just behind the older building.
