This shows the 2,253ft long bridge with a train heading north. It was constructed primarily of wood, except for the section that passes over the river bed, which is of iron girders and pile-driven steel cylinders. The rolling sections visible in photograph No 37685 were replaced in 1899 by an iron swing bridge.
