My.Mother, Mary Reid worked at Proper Pride I think from 1962-1966. She was an overlocker. She remembers being rewarded for completing so many pieces; the reward was a make over. She said the make up was very thick, sixties style. My Dad worked in the cutting room. Was it then called Hawkins. and then Kayser?
I was a 19 year old student and worked at PP in 1966 as general dogsbody and then promoted to van driver of a very smart Ford Thames van with Proper Pride Lingerie smartly signed in gold on the side. It caused some comment from the Liverpool dockers. Happy memories of a happy female dominated workforce working hard on their machines
