A Memory of Bellshill.

I was born in Bellshll .No maternity for me ,I was a natural home birth.Went to Mossend Primary,then onto Bellshill Academy .I remember the George .Theatre. and Alhambra cinemas well.Also the YM where we could go and show off our dance moves .on a Wednesday and Saturday night. Sunday was kept for the pictures if you got a lumber on Saturday night at theYM. I left school at 16 and started an apprenticeship with local firm Belmos. Spent 16 glorious years there. Met my wife at the YM and next year will be celebrating our Golden Wedding anniversary .How many folk can say that nowadays ? I’ve lived in Motherwell now for 48years and just occasionally visit Bellshill but will never forget where I came from .Yours sincerely Charles Frith but known to everyone as Big Geoff.
