More about this scene
Across the Great Ouse we reach Biddenham, now virtually joined to Bedford by housing estates. At the end of a lane near the Ouse the parish church is grouped with Church Farm. The ivy has long gone from the Early English Gothic 13th-century tower surmounted by the battlemented 15th-century bell stage and leaded spirelet. The young cedar in the foreground is now over 60 feet high, and obscures this view of the church.
