More about this scene
The parish church of All Saints is unusually wide, with a tiny tower and high arched windows. It was designed by Samuel Hewlett and built in about 1820 on the site of a previous church that dated from the early 18th century. An unusual interior feature is the 15th-century stoup that serves as a font. At the time this photograph was taken, the bend in the road was a notorious accident black spot: here heavily laden lorries often came to grief on the long descent down Blakeney Hill into the village.
