More about this scene
This is the road down to the shore (and Red Bank Farm). Red Bank is one of the spots from which you can cross the sands over to Kents Bank. In Victorian times, Bolton was a favourite spot for those who wanted a quiet peaceful holiday, and it became a welcome means of making money for the locals to take in visitors. Horse-drawn coaches and wagonettes would come from Morecambe and Lancaster, and local children would meet the visitors and sell them snacks and bunches of flowers.
