More about this scene

The Wellington Hotel, still in business today, was one of the last posting houses in the country, with stage coaches running into the 1920s. In 1849 the coach from Saltash took nine hours; it would cost 4s 6d if you rode inside, 3s 4d if you were willing to brave the weather outside. The road journey from Saltash today takes about an hour and a half.
