More about this scene

Bossington, at the foot of Bossington Hill and on a loop road from the A39, merges with the hamlet of Lynch; it is a pretty village, with whitewashed sandstone rubble houses. Olands, the house on the left, has an external chimney- breast, thus making sure that neighbours knew the yeoman owner was wealthy enough to have a fireplace. The cottage on the right has one hidden by creeper.
