The Vyne C1960 One of Hampshire's finest houses, The Vyne was built between 1518 and 1527 by William Sandys who became Lord Chamberlain in 1526. John Leland, the 16th century antiquarian and scholar, described The Vyne as 'one of the principal houses in goodly building in all Hamptonshire'. The National Trust acquired the house in 1956.

I was born in 1941, we lived in an old Army hut, opposite 'Burraper' Mill. Strictly speaking this was in Sherborne St. John, being the other side of the Beau Brook and the Iron Bridge, but Bramley was a lot nearer.
Burraper Mill was still in occasional use, grinding Sugar Beet and other things. It was driven by a water turbine. A Mr. Steele was the miller. The Mill House was owned by Mrs. Roberts, ...see more

The hunt used to meet at the Six Bells, and we used to go down to see that. Next to the pub was a field where the annual Gymkhana was held.
