More about this scene
Copper mining was once a major industrial activity in the locality. However, in Victorian times the town became a popular spa, complete with pump room and baths and around 100 lodging houses. Robert Louis Stevenson was a frequent visitor to Bridge of Allan, and included the walk alongside the Allan water in his novel 'Kidnapped'. Bridge of Allan is now home to Stirling University.
