More about this scene
Brand new, still with scaffold planks stacked behind the gate, the Secondary School in St Andrew's Road was built on land given by Lieutenant-Colonel and Mrs Thomas Alfred Colfox. It cost £5,000 and would win recognition from the Board of Education. Colonel Colfox gave more land for playing fields, in 1918, and it would then be re-designated as a Grammar School.
