More about this scene
In contrast with the western side of the Wirral Peninsula, the towns and villages of the east have become one continuous conurbation because of their proximity to the River Mersey and Liverpool. Regrettably the village of Bromborough entered into the changes with some alacrity, particularly in the years immediately before and after the First World War; almost all traces of ancient Bromborough were destroyed. Bromborough Cross is one of the few things that remain, but even this is not completely original. The base and steps are probably late 13th century and the top was added in 1874.
