More about this scene
The Old Lion and Lamb was formerly a coaching inn, one of the oldest posting houses on the Great North Road, and associated with the Bishops of Lincoln's palace at Buckden Towers. Inside there is a carved Agnus Dei boss on magnificently moulded ceiling beams - these show that the original building of c1500 was timber-framed and jettied.
