Budleigh Salterton, High Street 1931

More about this scene
Yet just a dozen years after photograph 68727 (above), the High Street was much busier with traffic - we get a feeling of Budleigh entering our familiar modern world. On the street corner (left) are petrol pumps, an agent for BSA motorcycles and a wireless shop - the latter is an electrical goods shop to this day. The lady on the left is standing outside Budleigh's post office, as we may even today, for it has so far survived on the same site.
