All 300,000 photographs in The Frith Collection have been scanned, but as the photos were taken over a 110 year period on a wide range of glass & film negatives, using different photographic processes, every image has to be checked and optimised, before we make a print for a customer.

My grandfather was Chief Constable of Dorset from 1925 - 1956. When he retired my grandparents bought a house called either Ravensthorpe or Ravenscroft (it was a long time ago and I can't remember for sure!)in Victoria Place. Every year from 1957 when I was four till 1963 we would come here and stay for a couple of weeks for our summer holiday. I used to live in #1 when I was about 6 years old and have memories of climbing out of a window and sitting on the roof and looking out to sea. I also used to cycle off to school each day along this street. My father was in the Devon Constabulary and so we moved around a bit. My memory of Budleigh Salterton is spending a couple of months or so at a childrens convalescent home in the spring/early summer of 1955. I revisited the town a few years back to find that the old childrens home building is now a hotel and named Tidwell Manor.
