More about this scene

The Civic Restaurant was also the village hall. It was built in 1898 to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in a typical domestic Tudor revival style with a timber-framed upper floor, a cupola and battlemented stair turrets - an attractive composition. Byfleet Village Hall also now houses Byfleet Parish Council offices, and is currently under repair (October 2001).

Village Hall
I recall this being a "set" for "Z CARS" in the 1960's. A few episodes were filmed here. Most weekends/some evenings after school, I would go to the library - which was and maybe still is, along the right hand side of this main building, to its own entrance.

Byfleet Village Hall
Byfleet Village Hall, used as a Civic Restaurant during WWII, a good meal could be purchased for a shilling in those days of rationing and food shortage. A shilling would be about five new pence in todays currency

However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
