Loved It, Hated It

A Memory of Chaigley Manor.

I was a 10 year old boy in 1950 and due to a case of TB i was sent to Chaigley Manor to recover.
It was a wonderful place where we would go for walks and play .I remember we had a running race one day in the grounds and i came in third and won a plumb, i can still feel the thrill of winning this plum,
The worst part was bath time, we had to sit in tubs and scrub , At the end of the bath the nurse would pour a large jug of cool water over you, I hated that.

I'm still alive and its 2017, they must have done something right,

I also was sent to Chaigley Manor in the 1950's, can't remember why. My brother came also to keep me company, he however got stung by bees or wasps in the woods and had to return home early. The only thing we both remember is the ' bath time and the large jug of water poured over your head. It felt like you where drowning.
Maybe that's where the Americans got the idea of water boarding from!!!!!
I never remembering getting a plum so must have been too slow. In fact only remember getting fruit in my Christmas stocking.
In my 70's now so did me no harm but hated the bath night.
