Reigning Monarchs

A Memory of Coatbridge.

When I went to the Coatbridge Palais there was also a band called the Reigning Monarchs, which there around the same time as the Drum Beats, the Crusaders. I am not sure of the dates they all played in the Coatbridge Palais. Tuesday night Sammy Lee and his band from Bellshill played in the Whifflet Rosehall.

The Coatbridge Palais was on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. The Drumbeats and the Bobcats played at that time. I think many of the marriages in the Brig started at the dancing. I was living in New Zealand when my Mum wrote and told me that the Town Hall had burned down. No more dancing. I live in Australia now, and left Coatbridge in 1965.
