Halcyon Days.
A Memory of Collingham.
My name is Mike Stoker
I lived in Collingham for about 7 years from 1959 to 1966. I was born in Jimmies in Leeds where we lived for 3 years before moving to Kirk deighton for about 1 year. I went to Collingham school on school lane for 6 years from 1959 to 1965 and then to secondary school in Wetherby for 1 year which included a short stay at the new Wetherby secondary school before leaving Collingham kicking and screaming to live in Goole. I have many vivid and happy memories of collingham which include the school, the beck, the old mill & standing on the old station bridge while steam trains passed below to mention a few. Maybe its rose tinted glasses but to me Collingham was as far as i am concerned an idyllic and perfect childhood.
