More about this scene
This is Main Road, and it is full of local limestone-built houses. Originally it was the Great North Road, and had numerous inns. The building on the left was the Sun Inn, but now for over 23 years it has been the Old Sun Pottery. The building has been greatly restored. There were at least six inns in Colsterworth at the height of the stage coach trade, but now only the White Lion survives. The Great North Road became the A1 in 1923.
