Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

The summer exodus of holidaymakers to the seaside resorts of Britain made piers a popular and lucrative venture. This Victoria Pier has had a chequered history. Opened in 1900, it was almost destroyed by fire in 1923 and 1933, but it was rebuilt on both occasions. The Pavilion could seat 2,500 for its popular entertainment. The 1950s was its swansong: it closed in 1958, then reopened as a disco, but finally closed in 1991.

Colwyn Bay Drinking Fountains
The Dingle was indeed a magical place and as a child on holiday in the 1950's, I always chose to go to the beach via The Dingle. I have a photograph of myself and my brother taken by the drinking fountain that was just where the Dingle meets the promenade. Eirias Park And More
I was born in groes rd. and lived there with my mum and Nain and Taid. The park was wonderfull. Playing tennis golf ,sailing my yacht the swings the boating lake and wonderfull fireworks on 5 th nov. when the finale was a waterfall into the lake and a swan gliding across the lake. On the prom there was the electric elephant which I loved and on the pier were shows and the pantomime. I went to Bod Alaw ...see more

This Is History
To Norma Singleton. There is a terrace of houses between Llanddulas & Llysfaen (2 miles from Colwyn Bay) with a terrace called Tyn y Maes. My Nain & Taid lived there before moving to Llysfaen village. I live in Llysfaen & went to Pendorlan Secondary Modern school in Colwyn Bay from 1962, it then changed to a comprehensive school - Colwyn High. Colwyn Bay and surrounding areas have changed immensly.

This Is History!
I went to Colwyn Bay with a girl friend and we stayed at 'Tyn-y-maes' (sorry can't remember how to spell it). I met my husband on that holiday when we were only in our early teens. We were friends on and off for several years and finally got together again and married in 1961. We were there last year and tried to find the place but told it has long since gone. Ah, memories!

Genealogy & Research Images

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
