Corfe Mullen had a mill as long ago as the Domesday Book; it retained its independence until well into the 20th century, when its great neighbour Poole began to creep out towards it. Its greatest attraction, not shown here, is the delightful little 13th-century church.

My very earliest memory takes me back to the Second World War. My parents were renting a house in Wareham Road. Dad was working at the RN Cordite Factory at Holton Heath. In the 50's there was a clay mine,as opposed to an open pit, which was in Candy's Lane. The clay was loaded into railway wagons an taken by rail to a siding in the old Carters works on the Backwater side of the Blandford road.
