Corfe Mullen had a mill as long ago as the Domesday Book; it retained its independence until well into the 20th century, when its great neighbour Poole began to creep out towards it. Its greatest attraction, not shown here, is the delightful little 13th-century church.

My parents thatched cottage in Haywards Lane when they purchased it in 1950, had over 27 acres of land and previous to them owning it and starting to farm the land it was owned by a Miss Wadlow and her sisters, they were quite a well off family, having a car and people working for them. In the 50's there was a clay mine,as opposed to an open pit, which was in Candy's Lane. The clay was loaded into railway wagons an taken by rail to a siding in the old Carters works on the Backwater side of the Blandford road.
