Corringham, Church Road c.1955

More about this scene
Corringham still has some old buildings. The Bull dates largely from the 17th century, though the wing on the right, with its projecting gable, is two centuries older. Like so many pubs round here, it has smuggling associations; it is riddled with sliding panels, double doors and secret chambers. A weekly animal market used to be held outside.
