More about this scene
Sandwiched between St Nicholas Street and the old market place at Cross Cheaping, Bishop Street was one of Coventry’s main shopping thoroughfares. As can be seen, the street was served by horse-drawn trams. In 1895 Coventry became one of the early converts to electric street tramways; the system operated until November 1940, when it suffered heavy damage during the blitz.
