The village stands on the skyline above the approach to the popular golden sand of Crantock Beach. Untidy parking at the bottom of the lane at the edge of the dunes shows that the problem of cars at beauty spots has been with us since the very start of the motor age. Today, there is an organised car park here.

My parents moved from Pentire to Crantock when I was about 3 and Crantock is certainly ingrained in my memory as being my first home. My mother had taken a position as housekeeper to a Dr Nicholas and with it came Rose Cottage.
