144a Church Road

A Memory of Crystal Palace.

I remember living in the basement flat at 144 church road . My brother simon Dodds and me,jenny Dodds went to Rockmount Infants school. my mother Mary Dodds taught at Rockmount too. I remember Rockmount Rec and crystal palace park, especially the dinosaurs and the pet zoo.i remember the little train that you had to put in a penny to watch it go round. I also remember a park with three paddling pools, does anyone else remember that. I also remember the Boundy family who lived at the hotel. The polish bakery was a great memory too

I lived in a semi basement flat at 3a, Cintra Park, from 1950 to 1965. Before that lived in the flat attached to St. Aubyns' Church, St Aubyns' Road from 1948 to 1950, where my mother was the caretaker..We lived next to an Irish family in Cintra Park, who were very friendly with my parents. Spent my adolescence and early twenties in Crystal Palace. Loved every minute of it.
Were the paddling pools on the hill leading down to Streatham?
