More about this scene

We are looking from the fields to the east of the college. The right-hand building is the east arm of the three-sided 1850s main college building. To the left the building with the bell- cote is the detached chapel, also designed by Clarke, with 14th- century style window tracery. Unfortunately, the chapel lost its quality by the addition in 1953 of a plain, squat tower that seems a poor design and most injudicious. A mile and a half east of the European School complex is the Culham Science Centre, where the Joint European Torus (JET) project is based.
