David Christie
A Memory of Drumchapel.
I lived at 5 belsyde ave from 1953 till 1972 with mum and dad and my sister Helen and two brothers Colin and Kenny. My dad ran the local scout troop - the 107th Glasgow. I had lots of friends including Ian Mcneil Kenny Hutton and Charlie White, my best friend was Kenny Gorman. We were always out playing football and when we were about 12 we formed a wee gang called the jobby gang lol. We would jump burns, climb trees, go to the pictures at the Rio in Canniesburn. We also went to the old Kirkpatrick hills during the summer, my sister still lived in the drum in Kinfauns Dr until she passed away in 2011, she worked at the Butty pub at the centre. I went to Hillhead after Stonedyke and my brother Kenny who now lives in Canada went to Waverley.
