More about this scene
The church was built in 1686 on the site of an 11th century church. The original church was probably built by the Danes, and St Michan is likely to have been a Danish saint. The organ, which dates from 1724, is said to have been played by Handel. On the panel directly beneath the organ can be seen the intricate wood carving of flutes and violins. Edmund Burke was baptised here, and Robert Emmett is said to be buried in the churchyard.
