Dunster, The Old Nunnery 1903

More about this scene
Dunster is one of the most picturesque of Somerset's small towns; its long Market Place rises from the Yarn Market, or market cross, an octagonal structure of 1589, to the castle gatehouse with the castle looming beyond. Here the road turns right into Church Street with The Nunnery, a fine 14th-century three-storey town house with slate-hung jettied upper storeys. Beyond is Dollons House, stucco-fronted, and behind it can be seen the church tower, built in 1443.
