Dunwich, St James' Church 1909

More about this scene
St James' church was named after the medieval leper hospital, whose Norman ruins lie to the east. The church was built well inland in 1830. It all looks new because the chancel was rebuilt and all the windows replaced in 1881. Just to the left of the photograph is a buttress from All Saints' church, moved here from the cliff edge in 1923.
